Technical Abstract: This book chapter is specific to late blight in the United States and will include a review and discussion of the history of late blight on potato and tomato crops, changes in grower attitudes towards late blight, present status of the disease in the US, methods for identification, management, and current research related to late blight. This chapter will be a part of a book entitled Phytophthora, which will have other chapters that discuss other Phytophthora diseases in the US and other regions of the world.
