Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Due to EPA’s implementation of more stringent standards for particulate matter (PM) with an effective diameter less than 2.5 microns (PM2.5) and the limited availability of PM2.5 emissions data, the cotton ginners’ associations across the cotton belt agreed that there is an urgent need to collect gin emission data. An ambitious sampling campaign was conducted during the ginning seasons from 2008 to 2011, where every process stream emission point at seven cotton gins across the cotton belt was source sampled using EPA methods for total suspended particulate, PM10, and PM2.5. This paper summarizes the information and emissions data collected for the No.1 Dryer and Cleaner process stream.
