Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Nineteen microsatellite markers derived from bovine DNA, but not assigned on cattle linkage groups, were mapped using ovine reference populations. Placement of these marker loci on homologous species maps is an alternative approach to obtain relative chromosomal location. Markers which lack heterozygosity in reference populations may still be of use in other populations, or can be used to develop new markers from large insert libraries. Placement of these loci benefit the development of a comparative linkage map for sheep and cattle.
