Technical Abstract: Periphyton communities and biomass are often studied to monitor environmental conditions in a water body. Methods reported in the literature for collecting periphyton did not provide consistent samples. Samples were scoured off of the collection slides when the standard periphyton sampler design was used in constructed wetlands treating agricultural drainage waters. This problem prompted the author to develop a variation that could provide successful sample collection. A modified sampler design that resulted in successful periphyton collection in constructed wetlands receiving agricultural drainage water is presented.
