Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: This contribution is a set of three images of entomopathogenic fungi that were taken and composited by RA Humber from individual specimens. Each of these images is a montage of many individual planes of focus integrated by software and then adjusted for realistic color, to further sharpen the images, and grouped artistically in the three-image set that was published. Dr. Humber provided the captions for these images that are published inside the issue. These images were intended to support the content of a review article on the range of compounds produced by insect-pathogenic fungi from the order Hypocreales that was prepared separately by Istvan Molnar (University of Arizona), Donna Gibson and Stuart Krasnoff (USDA-ARS). These authors invited Dr. Humber to prepare appropriate images for submission to the journal as potential cover artwork. The initial cover designs were evaluated by the authors, and subsequently the version submitted for their consideration was reworked to comply with suggestions and requests from the journal’s production staff. |
