Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The glucose oxidase-peroxidase assay for glucose has served as a very specific, sensitive, and repeatable assay for detection of glucose in biological samples. It has been used successfully for analysis of glucose in samples from blood and urine, to analysis of glucose released from starch or glycogen in human foods, animal feeds, and diverse plant, animal, and microbial samples. The chemistry, methodology, performance, and considerations in successful application of this assay are discussed.
