Technical Abstract: Continuous measurements of anions in water offers key insight in to the transport and sources of pollutants such as phosphate and nitrate. We are developing a new technology that can be deployed at remote locations to measure dissolved anions in flowing water over 15-30 minute intervals. The technology only requires water as the pumped phase and the eluent water is recycled. Using combined methods of reagent free IC as the core technology, the device can measure continuously in the field for weeks with out the need for maintenance. The dynamic range for anions such as phosphate range is 0.01 ug/ml to 20.0 ug/ml. This technology provides the ability to collect large data sets with greater temporal resolution than is currently available with todays in-laboratory methods.
