Interpretive Summary: Parasitic wasps are known to aid in controlling populations of plant pests such as mealybugs and plant lice, which can cause millions of dollars of losses annually in agricultural/horticultural settings. Uncontrolled, these pests can secondarily damage plants through mold growing on their excretions. This paper reports two parasitic wasps known to attack mealybugs and plant lice, redescribing one and reporting a large range extension for the second. This information will be useful to ecologists, biocontrol workers, and landscape managers.

Technical Abstract: North American species Hyperimerus (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae) are reviewed. Hyperimerus corvus Girault is redescribed, a lectotype designated, and the male is described for the first time. Hyperimerus pusillus (Walker) is also briefly redescribed and range extension is proposed. Notes on extralimital taxa are provided.
