Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The public is placing increasing pressure on agriculture to keep sediment and nutrients in the field and out of streams. Information on effects of rotations on nitrogen (N) in surface runoff and sediment were evaluated in Northcentral Oregon during five crop years. Runoff and erosion were extremely variable. Less than three percent of N applied as fertililzer was lost in runoff. Most was lost as sediment N.
