Technical Abstract: Polyacrylamide (PAM) is an organic polymer which has shown great promise in controlling some erosion problems. This article provides general background information on what PAM is, what research into soil erosion control with PAM has been conducted, and how PAM is being applied in actual field situations. Details and photographs of current experiments being conducted at the USDA-ARS National Soil Erosion Research Laboratory are presented.
