Technical Abstract: This review is a brief discussion of the newer areas of research on Pasteurella haemolytica, with an emphasis on that reported in the last 5 years, and its significance. Much new research is a repeat of previous studies, but with refined objectives and utilization of more modern techniques. Much of the basic research has paralleled that of other human and animal pathogens. Although progress has been hampered by the lack of commercially available biological reagents that would parallel those developed for humans and mice and for human pathogens, an advantage has been the ability to use the natural host for pathogenesis studies.
