OTHER INFORMATION: Not adapted to western Oregon because of downy mildew susceptibility. Indistinguishable from other Cluster selections by chemical means or in brewing. In 1986 2,133 acres of Late Cluster accounted for 8.5% of total U.S. hop acreage. L 8 is the designation given to the selection by Dr. C.B. Skotland in the 1950's when he started his virus program. L 8 has a higher level of spidermite resistance than other Cluster elections. Total Cluster production in 1991 was 14.5 mill. lbs grown on 6964 acres and perhaps 20% of that was L8. In 1997, total Cluster production was 8.38 mill. Lbs on 3,697 acres.
