Integration of the recombination and physical maps with the genome sequence of tribolium castaneum [Abstract]. Tribolium Transgenic Meeting and International Tribolium Genetics Meeting, Gottingen, Germany, August 1-5, 2005. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: The final assembly of the Tribolium genome sequence and its integration with genetic and physical mapping data is nearing completion. Release 2 of the genome assembly by the Baylor College of Medicine’s Human Genome Sequencing Center consists of 420 sequence scaffolds which encompass >95% of the clonable genome (exclusive of repetitive regions) and >95% of the genes, as indicated by EST coverage and similarity searches. First-pass integration of the sequence scaffolds with the recently-completed genetic map allowed us to make linkage assignments for 75% of the genome. Further integration of maps and sequences is being accomplished by manual scrutiny of mate-pair links and physical map contigs, and by further, targeted mapping of the largest, previously unmapped sequence scaffolds. |
