Interpretive Summary: Two tests were conducted to evaluate the efficacy of selected insecticides on cotton aphids. In test 1, Regent and Decis + Intruder at 0.05, 0.02+ 0.056 lb (AI)/acre and Intruder at 0.042, 0.056, 0.084, and 0.112 lb (AI)/acre, respectively were applied to field plots 32 rows wide and 60ft. long. At 6 DAT all treatments reduced aphid populations below that found in the untreated check. The better aphid mortality was observed in plots sprayed with Intruder alone. In test II Vydate + Asana at 0.33 + 0.04 lb (AI)/acre, and Steward at 0.066, 0.078, 0.09, 0.104 lb (AI)/acre were applied to plots of the same size. At 6 DAT none of the insecticide applied provide adequate aphid control.

Technical Abstract: Two separate tests were conducted to determine the efficacy of various insecticides on aphid control. In test I Regent and Decis+Intruder at 0.05 and 0.02+0.056 lb (AI)/acre and Intruder at 0.042, 0.056, 0.084 and 0.112 lb (AI)/acre respectively were applied to plots 32 rows wide by 60 ft. long. At 6 DAT the untreated check had significantly higher aphid counts than the treatments. Treatments with Intruder at all rates had significantly lower aphid counts than treatments with Regent and Decis+Intruder. In test II there were no significant differences in aphid counts found between the check and Steward applied at 0.09 and 0.104 lb (AI)/acre. Aphid counts in treatments with Steward 0.078, Vydate 0.33, Asana 0.04 lb (AI)/acre, respectively did not differ significantly.
