Welcome to the web site of the Conservation Systems Research Team, part of the National Soil Dynamics Laboratory in Auburn, Alabama.

CSR Logo

Our primary mission is to develop integrated conservation agriculture systems that improve farm profitability and enhance air, soil, and water quality.

Our overall goals are to:

  • Develop crop management systems that increase crop residue and promote surface soil organic matter formation.

  • Determine environmental and economic effects of crop residues on crop production and carbon sequestration.

  • Optimize crop inputs for high-residue cropping systems and to design equipment to preserve and manage surface residue.

We work with researchers from state and federal agencies, university research and extension staff, crop consultants, and farmers to find solutions and to share information that will improve crop production and protect our resources.
