ROLE OF THE NAA-EEO ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Purpose:
1. To identify and advise Area management of matters concerning the EEO program. This includes but is not limited to concerns specific to the Federal Women's Program, Hispanic Programs and other relevant programs.
2. To assist in the monitoring of Affirmative Action Plans.
3. To serve as a medium for transmission of EEO-related information to Area employees.
4. To promote EEO activity that will enhance achievement of EEO goals and objectives.
Make-up of Committee:
The EEO Advisory Committee is chaired by the Area Director. The Committee is balanced to represent different segments of the Area population and includes minority group and non-minority group male and female employees, including line supervisors, EEO counselors, and ex-officio members. The full committee has quarterly meetings. Membership is rotated by replacement of some members at intervals to achieve new input while maintaining continuity.
Responsibilities and Duties of EEO Committee Members:
1. To communicate to the Committee concerns expressed to them by the individual employees with whom they come in contact.
2. To communicate to the employees with whom they work the actions of the Committee.
3. To chair or participate in Area EEO subcommittees.
4. To assist in monitoring Area Action Plan.
5. To inform management of progress or lack of progress of the EEO program.
6. To help set priorities for and promote the development of activities which will help achieve the objectives of the EEO program.
7. To attend (in person or by teleconference) quarterly EEO Committee meetings.
