This version provides an evaluation tool of distributed, continuous, long-term channel network evolution within ungaged, large-scale watershed systems. Scour and fill of the channel bed, bank erosion, and width adjustment are determined in response to instream erosion control structures and pollutant loadings provided by AnnAGNPS. Bank erosion accounts for basal scour and mass wasting of unstable cohesive banks. Transport of cohesionless sediments, in suspension and on the bed, is simulated selectively by particle size classes to produce armoring or hiding effects within the bed material. This tool can be used to evaluate the efficiency and design of instream grade control structures to reduce sediment yield and stabilize streams. The National Sedimentation Laboratory has used CCHE1D and AnnAGNPS to model the evolution of large-scale channel systems in disturbed landscapes of the Demonstration Erosion Control (DEC) Project.
Status: This version has been developed in cooperation with the University of Mississippi (UM) and was originally made available in 1997. The National Center for Computational Hydroscience and Engineering at UM has continued the development of CCHE1D, first under the name FRAME but at present under the name CCHE1D. CCHE1D is the channel network modeling component supported by AGNPS.
