In recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month we will be showing the Emmy Award-winning movie Temple Grandin. The movie stars Claire Danes as Temple Grandin, a woman who overcomes severe autism to become a noted professor of animal science at Colorado State University.
The real-life agricultural scientist Temple Grandin is a fellow of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers and was listed by Time magazine in 2010 as among the 100 most influential people in the world. A leader in animal welfare and advocacy for autism awareness and education, Dr. Grandin has written extensively on animal behavior ("Animals in Translation"), autism ("Thinking in Pictures") and employment opportunities for people with disabilities ("Developing Talents: Careers for Individuals with Asperger Syndrome and High-Functioning Autism).
The movie will be shown in the CDL conference room on October 22 and 23. Because of the length of the film (~120 minutes) it will be shown in two parts from noon to 1:00 or 1:15 each day. We look forward to seeing you there.
