There are two sets to this test:
1) Light set: alternating light and dark, and
2) Dark set: constant dark.
Germinations are conducted in blotter boxes.
Scoring is done on 7, 14, and 21 days after the start of germination. IMPORTANT NOTE: First count is NOT to occur before 7 days.
If inventory on hand is > 6,000 seed, then:
1) Light set:
4 reps of 50 seed
30C + light (12hrs) / 20 + dark (12hrs)
Put seed on top of blotter papers.
2) Dark set:
4 reps of 50 seed
Dark, 30C (12hrs) / 20C (12 hrs)
Put seed in between dark, blue blotter papers
(near center of papers),
or cover boxes with aluminum foil.
If inventory on hand is 6,000 seed or less, then reduce sample size by conducting test on just 2 reps of 50 seed each..
