ARS Insect Pathologist trains Georgian scientists at MT lab

NPARL Entomologist and Insect Pathologist Stefan Jaronski is hosting Drs. Eleanora Abashidze of the Georgian Institute of Plant Protection, and Medea Abashidze, Georgian Academy of Sciences, along with one of their graduate students, January 21-28, at the Sidney, MT ARS lab. The Georgian scientists are visiting the Sidney lab for additional training in mass production of insect pathogenic fungi, conduct of grasshopper bioassays, and general mycological methods. This training program is part of an ongoing USAID-funded project to build an insect pathology infrastructure in the Republic of Georgia. Dr. Jaronski previously visited Georgia in 2006 and 2007 to provide onsite training and help establish insect pathology laboratories in the Institute of Plant Protection and at Tbilisi State University.
