SOIL TYPE: "OUTCROP"
headline bar

Marginally gypsic soils ("Outcrop") - This site was located on partially indurated gypsum, exposed at and near the surface. The site is dominated by dispersed sub-shrubs, perennial grasses and forbs. There is some evidence of military training in the area, including several communications wires and foxholes. These would have been generated in the past 30 years; the mission of the base was changed from missile research to supporting tactical fighter aircraft in the early 1970's. Plots were located to avoid clear signs of historic disturbance.
