Little Topashaw Creek - Monitoring - Bank Soil Moisture
headline bar

The outside bank of a selected bend was partially stabilized using solar powered pumps and drainsand intensively studied using borehole shear tests, permeability tests, and tensiometers/piezometers attached to a data logger to obtain pore-water pressure profiles within the unsaturated and saturated portions of the riverbank. Repetitive surveys were used to determine the rates of bank erosion and effectiveness of slope stabilization and dewatering.
