The USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) and the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) are cosponsoring, in cooperation with the University of Minnesota (UMN), a global biofuels conference on the science and technology of agriculturally-derived biofuels, to be held at the Crowne Plaza – Downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, on August 20-22, 2007.

Objectives:

  • To promote international scientific and technical cooperation in crafting common approaches and solutions to shared challenges in biofuels development. 
  • To address the current and future state of biofuels research and development, the economics of biofuels production, and the environmental implications of biofuels.

Leading scientists and policymakers from over 40 countries are expected to attend the conference.  Selected countries with established biofuels programs and/or innovative initiatives will make presentations.  Participating countries are invited to submit summaries of their biofuels activities and priorities for a conference report.
