Matthew Siebers is a research plant physiologist at the U.S Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS) with the Dairy Forage Research Unit. Matthew has a background in plant physiology, global climate change, and phenomics. He has worked at SoyFACE, CSIRO, and the RIPE Aerial Phenotyping Platform at the University of Illinois. He is currently working on understanding the conditions and physiological mechanisms that lead to winterkill in alfalfa. This aims to improve alfalfa persistence and will involve the development phenomics techniques to help more precisely identify when and how plants are affected by winterkill. Matthew received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and his doctorate in plant biology at the University of Illinois.
