Detect and Measure |
Development of innovative methods to accurately detect and measure mycotoxin
contamination in crops, food, and feed.
- MPM scientists are using technologies based on antibodies and artificial polymers to develop methods to detect mycotoxins. These tests will reduce time and resources used by farmers and other agricultural businesses to combat mycotoxin contamination.
- Scientists are also developing methods that detect ‘masked mycotoxins’: mycotoxins that were previously undetected because they are chemically bound to a carbohydrate molecule. These methods will allow researchers and agricultural businesses to more accurately determine the levels of mycotoxins that contaminate food and feed crops.
- Scientists are also developing methods that can detect multiple mycotoxins and other chemicals produced by fungi and crop plants. Such methods are being used by researchers to identify strategies to reduce mycotoxin contamination.
