Current Action Plan 2025-2029

The goal of the ARS National Program 306 (NP 306), Product Quality and New Uses, including biorefining, is to enhance economic viability and competitiveness of U.S. agriculture by improving quality and marketability of harvested agricultural commodities to meet consumer needs, develop environmentally friendly, efficient processing concepts, and expand domestic and global market opportunities by developing value-added food and non-food technologies and products, as well as  expanding biorefining technologies, byproducts, and green fuels.

Previous Action Plan 2020-2024

ARS National Program 306 (NP 306), Product Quality and New Uses, including biorefining, has the goal of enhancing economic viability and competitiveness of U.S. agriculture by improving quality and marketability of harvested foods and agricultural feedstocks to meet consumer needs, develop environmentally friendly and efficient processing concepts, and expand domestic and global market opportunities in biorefining in association with the bioeconomy.
