A female Gryon aetherium wasp inserts her ovipositor into a bagrada bug egg.

In 2020, the parasitic wasp Gryon aetherium was discovered at one of the sites ARS scientists were surveying, and in 2021 the wasps were found throughout northcentral California. Above, a female Gryon aetherium wasp is parasitizing an egg (she inserts her ovipositor into the bagrada bug egg to deposit her own egg).
