Practice good biosecurity to help keep diseases away from your flock. Use physical separation or netting to keep out wild birds, especially waterfowl.  Wild birds can carry diseases that won't necessarily make them sick but can be detrimental to the health of your backyard flock. It is also important to quarantine any new members of your flock for at least 30 days before introducing them to the rest of your birds.
