Research and Interests

Acquire, preserve, evaluate, enhance, and distribute the Phaseolus germplasm maintained in the national collection. The acquisition and propagation of wild Phaseolus species is among the priorities of the program.

Perform research on aspects of germplasm maintenance, propagation, and genetics. Another important aspect of the program is the step taken to preserve and rescue old or rare germplasm lines.

Continue program to clean-up BCMV contamination in the collection. Approximately 15% of the collection is labeled BCMV-free.

Collect and document data on above research.
