Education

PhD Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (2021) University of California-Irvine

M.S. Environmental Sciences (2010) University of Nevada-Las Vegas

Research Interests

Chemical ecology of vector-pathogen-hosts interactions. Research focuses on the role of plant volatile organic compounds (VOCs) signals in X-disease (Ca. Phytoplasma pruni) transmission by their insect vectors.

Aims

To identify and document behavioral and chemical interactions among leafhoppers (Colladonus spp.) - major vectors of X-disease - and their hosts, cherry and other stone fruits (Prunus sp.).

To develop applications of identified chemicals and corresponding eliciting insect behavior to prevent or limit X-disease spread.
