Mission:
The Cattle Fever Tick Research Unit develops novel management tools for controlling cattle fever ticks, Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus and R. (B.) annulatus. Research includes: 1) development of population genetic and ecological methods to improve cattle fever tick surveillance, 2) development of innovative methods to control cattle fever ticks on cattle and wildlife using biocontrol, botanicals, and novel acaricides, and 3) development of tools to diagnose and manage acaricide resistance. The research program also supports the USDA APHIS Cattle Fever Tick Eradication program and the US cattle industry.
