Research Interests

The objective of Dr. Green's research is to understand the mechanisms of plant toxin action in livestock, and develop evidence-based therapeutic approaches to mitigate livestock losses caused by poisonous plants.  The specific objectives are to:

1. Develop physiological measurements to quantify the biological effects of toxic plants in livestock
2. Identify genetic markers that associate with resistance to toxic plants in livestock
3. Develop a line of cattle that is resistant to the toxic effects of larkspur
4. Identify biomarkers that can be used to measure plant toxin exposure in livestock
5. Test evidence-based therapeutic approaches, and genetic markers in field situations to ensure relevance to the producer
