Short Bio:
Dr. Krugner began his career in the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in 2007 as a Research Entomologist in the Crop Diseases, Pests, and Genetics Research Unit at the San Joaquin Valley Agricultural Sciences Center in Parlier, California. He has since worked on a variety of projects involving the bacterial pathogen, Xylella fastidiosa, and associated insect vectors. Related to these projects, Dr. Krugner has conducted research on biology, behavioral and population ecology of insect vectors and their natural enemies, with focus primarily on plant-insect-pathogen interactions. In addition, Dr. Krugner serves as the Research Leader for the research unit, where research is conducted to develop methods to mitigate the impact of pests and diseases of grapevine and citrus, and develop new varieties of table grapes, raisin grapes, stone fruits, and citrus.
