Research Interests
The overall objective of the research is to produce environmentally sound management practices for animal production facilities and manure application sites to reduce nutrient losses, air emissions (ammonia, greenhouse gasses, volatile organic carbon compounds), and transport of airborne microorganisms. The research objectives are: (1) identify factors impacting and methods to improve nutrient utilization in animals and plants, and (2) identify and develop comprehensive approaches to protect air/water quality and the environment, with the goal of reducing non-point source pollution while improving the value of manure as a fertilizer.
