Research focuses on foreign and emerging plant pathogens that threaten crop yield, food security, and ornamental plant production. Subject matter expert in biosecurity and biocontainment principles and practices.
Research Emphasis
Research on protein expression in host-pathogen systems and development of diagnostic assays to detect emerging pathogens. Ongoing projects include diagnostic assays for the Sudden Oak Death pathogen Phytophthora ramorum in nursery irrigation water (photo) and the boxwood blight pathogen Calonectria pseudonaviculata.
