Description of Research Interests

The goal of my research is to improve cool and cold water species by identifying and characterizing genetic elements that control complex traits, such as stress tolerance, disease resistance, and meat yield and quality. The specific objectives are 1) to develop and adapt state-of-the-art DNA and other molecular techniques for gene expression; 2) to define the roles of related biological system in the expression of traits of primary importance; and 3) to design and test marker assisted selection schemes for genetic improvement of rainbow trout.
