The repository can be used to completely rebuild populations, perform corrective matings, or reintroduce lost bloodlines/broaden the genetic base.
- Holstein calves were generated in collaboration with Penn State, TransOva, and Select Sires to broaden the genetic base of the Holstein breed by reintroducing lost lineages
- This Dexter calf is the offspring of Jamie O'Callen, a 1977 born bull provided by NAGP for udder improvement and maintenance of genetic diversity of the breed
- The baby pigs are the progeny resulting from a complete line reintroduction by Purdue University as part of an effort to study a human disease
- Native Shorthorns born in the 1950's were provided to a breeder to broaden their herd's genetic base; semen from sons was collected and donated to NAGP
