Lab group: Dr. Gayle Volk
I develop cryopreservation protocols for conservation of genetically-diverse vegetatively-propagated agricultural and horticultural plants through applied research. This includes Citrus species and relatives (such as lemons, limes, oranges and kumquats), grapes (Vitis spp.), sweet cherry and peach (Prunus avium and Prunus persica), kiwifruit (Actinidia spp.), and breadfruit (Artocarpus spp.). Other responsibilities and interests include laboratory operation and safety, plant tissue culture media formulation and preparation, and plant propagation and microculture.
