The Grassland Soil and Water Research Laboratory (GSWRL) is located in Temple, Texas near the center of the Texas Blackland Prairie, with Waco approximately thirty-seven (37) miles to the north and Austin approximately sixty-nine (69) miles to the south. The GSWRL conducts research on a 550 acre tract of land in southeast Temple. The facility includes a 25,000 square foot office/laboratory building and other research support buildings. The land includes facilities for conducting a variety of field experiments. An additional 840 acres of land near Riesel,Texas is used for a watershed research program.
