Research Project: Development of a Transgenic Mouse that Expresses the Bovine Prion Polymorphism T231

Location: Virus and Prion Research

Project Number: 5030-32000-228-010-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Aug 1, 2019
End Date: Jul 31, 2024

Objective:
Develop a mouse model to test the susceptibility of the bovine T231 prion polymorphism to various prion agents.

Approach:
Transgene constructs will be used for microinjection into fertilized eggs and generation of the founder pups. Transgene constructs will be generated, characterized and maintained over the 2 year period to determine if transgene lines will develop a spontaneous prion disease.
