Objective:
The objective of this agreement is to develop and utilize reference genome sequence data of important turfgrass species to enhance breeding progress for biotic and abiotic stress tolerances.
Approach:
ARS and the University of Nebraska will develop and utilize reference genome sequence data of turfgrass species. Genes will be identified that play important roles in key traits such as drought tolerance and disease resistance, and strategies will be developed to utilize this information to enhance breeding progress.
