Objective:
The objectives of this research are to: 1) coordinate the collaborative screening of the North American Barley Scab Evaluation Nursery, 2) identify resistant winter barley germplasm and cross with resistant spring barley germplasm to improve disease resistance of Idaho malting germplasm and 3) use traditional and genomic breeding approaches to improve malting barley.
Approach:
The researcher will conduct traditional and molecular breeding methods to improve FHB resistance in winter and spring malting barley for the barley growing regions.
