Research Project: Development of Huanglongbing Resistant/Tolerant Citrus through Genomic Approaches

Location: Innovative Fruit Production, Improvement, and Protection

Project Number: 8080-21000-033-006-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 1, 2020
End Date: Apr 30, 2024

Objective:
The objective for this work will be to identify candidate genes that underly huanglongbing (HLB) resistance in Australian limes.

Approach:
The following approach will be undertaken: 1) Synteny analysis of the three genomes in comparison to citrus reference genome; 2) Assessment of genome structures including potential gaps, rearrangements, inversions, or swaps; 3) Genome annotation using established pipelines as well as RNAseq data when available; and 4) Creation of formatted genome files and gff annotation files to enable genome visualization and browsing.
