Research Project: CucCAP2: Harnessing Genomic Resources to Improve Disease Resistance and Disease Management in Cucurbit Crops (Charleston)

Location: Vegetable Research

Project Number: 6080-21000-020-016-R
Project Type: Reimbursable Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 1, 2020
End Date: Aug 31, 2025

Objective:
To use the genomic tools developed in CucCAP1 to incorporate disease resistance into cucurbit crop varieties.

Approach:
In this proposed project we will combine research efforts with ARS and University Scientists at Cornell, Michigan State University, North Carolina State University, Wisconsin, and University of Georgia to use genomic technologies and molecular markers developed in CucCAP1 to incorporate disease resistance gene loci into the genome background of watermelon and melon varieties.
