Research Project: Evaluating Phenotypes or Optimizing Management of New Potato Lines with Improved Disease Resistance, Yield, or Quality

Location: Temperate Tree Fruit and Vegetable Research

Project Number: 2092-21220-003-012-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jul 1, 2021
End Date: Jun 30, 2025

Objective:
The objective of this project is to evaluate advanced potato clones and newly released varieties to establish best management practices (BMP’s) which include ideal fertility requirements, spatial arrangement of plants, herbicide tolerance, pest resistance, and economic gross return.

Approach:
Subject material is evaluated in replicated field trials. Data is collected during the growing season to evaluate emergence/stand, stem number, and disease susceptibility. Post harvest data is collected using an electronic sorter to determine yield, tuber number and quality.
