Research Project: Integrating Biorational Approaches to Control Plant Parasitic Nematodes and Weeds in Organic Vegetable Systems

Location: Fruit and Tree Nut Research

Project Number: 6042-22000-024-019-R
Project Type: Reimbursable Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Feb 1, 2022
End Date: Jul 31, 2024

Objective:
1: Determine the entomopathogenic nematode species and bacterial metabolite with greatest efficacy to plant parasitic nematodes 2. Test the most efficacious nematode or bacterial treatments in field applications.

Approach:
In laboratory trials, screen the virulence of anarray of entomopathogenic nematodes and their symbiotic bacteria to determine the most promising strains in terms of biocontrol potential. In field plots, test the efficacy of candidate nematodes for efficacy to plant parasitic nematodes.
