Objective:
This project characterizes Fusarium head blight (FHB) resistance in elite barley germplasm through advanced screening procedures from breeding programs around the country and internationally. Primary objectives include establishing FHB misting nurseries, harvesting materials, and preparing materials for DON and Biomass measurements.
Approach:
The approach of this research involves operation of two Fusarium head blight (FHB) misted and inoculated nurseries in Fargo and Langdon, ND. Elite barley germplasm will be screened in these nurseries including lines and breeding populations from the Intermountain West Region, Mid-West, and North American Barley Scab Evaluation Nursery (NABSEN).
