Research Project: Predicting the Impact of H2Ohio Practices on Edge-of-Field Water Quality

Location: Soil Drainage Research

Project Number: 5080-13210-003-025-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: May 15, 2022
End Date: Aug 31, 2026

Objective:
Develop probability distributions for the expected edge-of-field impact of implementing H2Ohio practices within the Western Lake Erie Basin watershed.

Approach:
1) Identify an edge-of-field model and calibrate and validate the model using edge-of-field hydrology and water quality data. 2) Ensure that the model can accurately represent different conservation practices. 3) Use the calibrated, validated model and the distributions of soil properties, production management, and climate to run Monte Carlo simulations to determine the expected impact of the various conservation practices.
