Objective:
Overall objectives of this project are to: 1) assess Fusarium Head Blight (FHB) resistance in elite lines of North American public winter barley breeders, 2) identify FHB resistant lines in the Ohio breeding program, and 3) utilize modern breeding technologies to efficiently and rapidly introgress those resistances into new elite lines.
Approach:
Winter barley lines will be put into nurseries that provide the selection pressure needed to elicit and discriminate resistant and susceptible reactions to F. graminarum, DON levels will be measured in those lines, and these assays will be carried out at multiple locations across the U.S.
