Objective:
Conduct Manureshed Action Research Cycle in three animal feeding hotspots and the manuresheds emanating from those hotspots. Transport of surplus manure nutrients from source to sink will be mapped using nutrient balances and social network analysis. Findings will be presented at scientific and stakeholder meetings.
Approach:
This project will include significant interaction with livestock producers and end users of surplus manure generated from Confined Animal Feeding Operations. Additionally, publicly available data on CAFO permits will be utilized to further refine the GIS mapping of nutrient flows.
